GNU Health jalan di atas Tryton. Jadi untuk menginstall GNU Health harus terlebih dahulu menginstall Tryton. Tryton merupakan aplikasi ERP berbasis Phyton dan PostgreSQL.

Yang dibutuhkan untuk instalasi GNU Health sbb:

1. Operating System: disarankan menggunakan Free OS (seperti GNU/Linux atau FreeBSD)
2. Database: PostgreSQL
3. Python: >= 2.6
4. Tryton: = 2.4
5. Python QRCode library: >= 2.4.1 (hanya dibutuhkan untuk modul qrcodes).
6. Python PyWebDAV library: >= 0.9.8 (hanya dibutuhkan untuk modul calendar).
